HOLE-AND-CORNER MEETING AT CAIRNEYHILL
Lord Loughborough, fearing now to meet an openly-called meeting, got the factor to send round to his friends to meet with him at Cairneyhill yesterday. He delivered a part of his usual speech there; but, knowing the liberal tendency of the Cairneyhill voters, he intimated that of the two candidates, Mr Bright would have preferred him! He also stated that he was sure to carry the election.

His Lordship, if he has anything like truthful information from his agents, must know that, notwithstanding the fearful amount of intimidation being used, he will lost by several hundreds. But, let the electors of Fife be on their guard. The utmost endeavours are being made, and in some instances, we are sorry to say, successfully, to keep back Liberal voters. Let every Liberal elector resolve to counteract these efforts by being early at the poll.
At the end of his address, the Rev Mr More said a few words, and advised Lord Loughborough to try some Tory burgh, as his Conservative policies would not suit Fife.
