LOCAL INTELLIGENCE. SHERIFF SUMMARY COURT.

At the Sheriff Summary Court on Tuesday – Sheriff Gillespie on the bench – Edward Turnbull, labourer, Cairneyhill, was charged with assaulting his wife and daughter with a walking stick. He pled guilty, and the Sheriff ordered him to find £3 as caution for his keeping the peace for six months, or failing, undergo a term of ten days in jail.

DUNFERMLINE SHERIFF BUSY. CAIRNEYHILL NAVVIES ATTACKED.

Maurice Curran, fireman, Cairneyhill, pleaded guilty to having, on the 20th, at the premises at Cairneyhill occupied by David Robertson, assaulted a couple of navvies named Fox and Boyd.

It was stated that the disturbance was a first offence, and sentence of a fine of £1, with the option of eight days in prison was imposed.

A COSTLY SMOKE.

James Dishington, carter, Egypt Cottage, Cairneyhill, pleaded guilty at Dunfermline Sheriff Court yesterday., of having within the enclosure of a munition works in Fifeshire, have been found smoking, and with having three matches in his possession.

The Fiscal said that the practice was contrary to common sense as well as to the orders.

Sheriff Umpherston imposed a fine of £2, with the alternative of 20 days’ imprisonment.
